August 2024 update. Summer break?

Let's try something new.

I've been sharing a few metrics, struggles, and learnings with friends, colleagues and mentors…privately. Let's do it in the open this time. Welcome to the first and maybe only, awebrie slightly transparent monthly update.

Honestly, I'm quite excited for going through with posting this update. I've learned so much from similar behind-the-scenes insights into other businesses — did those folks felt as anxious as I feel right now?

As we continue to grow, and adapt to new challenges I'll try sharing them with you. Hopefully, you'll have some input that can help us learn, and grow.

Let's talk August. Isn't it such a fun month to own a services business? The volume of auto replies went through the roof.

Even with everyone out there in the sun, our business is healthy. This quarter we reached our yearly revenue target, and by now surpassed it by 16%. We are happy and excited about it. It's a victory, but be mindful we started 2024 with a conservative revenue target.

Through August we collaborated with 2 new talented people across the fields of motion design, and engineering. Both experiences went well, and we will be relying on their help in the future. If you are great and feel like you can add value to a team like ours, drop us a line.

Win — Expanded services

We're thrilled to have made the first sell of our "MVP as a service" offering. This took a while to accomplish, and hopefully increases our credibility when handling similar customer profiles.

Win — Designed rexplorer.xyz

We designed rexplorer.xyz, a web3 restaking data and insights platform. It was such a fun and quirky project to get out of the door. We look forward to iterate on it over the next few months.

Struggle — Long sales cycles

Sales cycles are long. We're actively working with people who've done it before on strategies to shorten them.

Struggle — Project fit

We chose to turn down a project. After a few calls, we noticed we weren't the right fit. It was a tough decision, but staying true to our core strengths and values is key to long-term success.

Struggle — Lead generation base

Most of our revenue is still coming from our direct network. While it’s great to have such strong support, we’re focused on expanding our reach and connecting with more clients beyond our immediate circle.
